Nippon Ekitan Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuki Endo ), a group company of Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Kenji Nagata; hereinafter “TNSC”), a Japanese industrial gas business company in the Nippon Sanso Holdings Group, will switch all electricity used at the Ube Plant (Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture) to CO
2-free electricity* supplied by the Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc . on June 1, 2024. This switchover will reduce CO
2 emission per year of electricity consumption by approximately 7,200 tons.
The Ube Plan manufactures liquefied carbon dioxide gas and dry ice using by-product gas from ammonia production at neighboring companies as raw materials for their products. This switchover will allow the plant to manufacture products with secondary recycled raw materials and CO
2-free electricity.
*Electricity with CO
2-free value derived from renewable energy sources (hydro, solar, etc.) that do not emit CO
2 during generation.
