Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Kenji Nagata; hereinafter “TNSC”), a Japanese industrial gas business company in the Nippon Sanso Holdings Group, is to announce its decision to revise the shipment price of helium gas as follows. 

1.　Applicable products: Helium gas products
       　　　　　　　　　　Cylinders, bundles, trailers, liquid helium, mixture gases, special gases

2.　Schedule: Effective for shipments beginning in February 2025

3.　Price increases: Average increase of 20% or more from current shipment prices

4.　Reasons for the revision:
TNSC procures raw materials for helium gas mainly from the U.S., Qatar, and other producing countries based on long-term contracts spanning 10 to 20 years. To stably supply helium, TNSC purchases the raw materials from a range of suppliers, seeks out new suppliers, and otherwise strives to strengthen its supply chain. In the course of these efforts, the cost of raw materials procured rose due to global tightness in the market, and this led TNSC to revise its shipment prices in August 2022 and February 2023.

Market tightness has since eased compared to that period, resolving the need for high-cost spot procurement, but market tightness between fiscal 2022 and 2023 has resulted in soaring long-term contract prices with new suppliers. In addition, rises in price index-linked long-term contract prices in countries with relatively high inflation rates and the effect of the weaker yen since TNSC’s previous price revision have caused the cost of helium gas raw materials to rise dramatically.

These rises in the cost of helium raw materials have gone beyond what corporate efforts alone can cover, making it difficult to maintain the current prices. TNSC has therefore decided on the upcoming price increase. With a view also to ensuring that TNSC can continuously obtain precious resources amid global competition, it will seek to gain understanding for the price revision.
