Sergio Soccer Clinic
Established as an event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the founding of Taiyo Nippon Sanso's predecessor, Nippon Sanso Corporation, the Sergio Soccer Clinic was first held in 1990 with the cooperation of the Chiba-shi Football Association. The objective of the event is to promote the sound development of children through sports activities. Since 2005, we have also sponsored a clinic in Osaka, in collaboration with the Osaka Football Association.
These clinics include friendly matches against a team made up of clinic instructors who are former professional players, including Sergio Echigo, and elementary school student teams, as well as mini soccer tournament for participating teams and a penalty kick competition that is also open to families and coaches. Since it started, the Sergio Soccer Clinic has welcomed more than 19,000 children, and some of those who attended the clinic have gone on to become professional soccer players. In 2019, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Chiba event.
The 2020 and 2021 events were held online due to the spread of COVID-19. It is our hope that the clinic will continue to deepen interaction with the local community.
With the slogan "Let's connect" as a reminder to stay connected until the day we see the children again, we produced a special online program to promote interaction between Mr. Sergio Echigo, other instructors, and the children.
Through the four sections of "See," "Listen," "Move," and "Communicate," we convey the joy of soccer, and that the essence of soccer is "play". We hope this will be an opportunity to encourage everyone's passion for and enjoyment of soccer.
Lab Lessons Using Liquid Nitrogen
Our Taiyo Nippon Sanso Kids' Science Class lab lessons seek to encourage children to take an interest in science by giving them the chance to participate in hands-on experiments using liquid nitrogen. These lab lessons enable children to actually experience the use of liquid nitrogen by, for example, freezing roses.
The event is held every year on an open school day at Shinagawa Municipal Ushiroji Elementary School, near the Head Office, and is very popular not only with the children but also with their teachers, parents, and neighborhood residents. Looking ahead, we will continue to expand opportunities to offer lab lessons to broaden stakeholders' understanding of Taiyo Nippon Sanso.
